Welcome to the Barony of Dragonsspine! The Chatelaine is the officer responsible for helping newcomers, and for promoting the Society to attract new members interested in recreating the Middle Ages. This also involves coordinating demo events; please contact the Chatelaine if you are interested in a demo. Many newcomers can be intimidated by the apparently large number of "rules" and "regulations." While some activities, such as fighting, have specific rules that need to be followed, most of the people in the Society simply use common sense in living the dream that is the Honor and Chivalry of the Current Middle Ages. Newcomers shouldn't be afraid that they might offend anyone by calling them by the wrong name or using the wrong title. If you let people know that you are new, many people will help guide you and educate you on the finer points of conduct. If you ever have a question, please ask someone; he or she will usually be happy to help. If you can't find anyone to ask, use this website as a resource, or the Kingdom of the Outlands or Society web pages (see below). Or, simply ask the Chatelaine; it is her job to help you. One of the best ways to get started is to come to a weekly fighter practice. Watch people fight and talk with the members of Dragonsspine. The officers of Dragonsspine usually attend fighter practice regularly. Use the pictures on the Officers page to identify these helpful gentles. There are a wide rage of activities you can participate in, ranging from fighting, fencing, archery, costuming, calligraphy, cooking, woodworking, leatherworking, armoring, dancing, singing, music, to politics. If they practiced the art in the Middle Ages, then there is probably someone doing it in the SCA. There is a variety of information available to help you get started.
